Is Osteopathy right for me?

Osteopathy is an emerging form of complimentary medicine which provides a ‘hands on’ approach to the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. An Osteopath will treat you using their hands, using a wide range of techniques ranging from, but not limited to soft or deep tissue massage to relax muscles, articulation or passive repetitive joint movement to improve the quality and range of motion of a joint, stretching techniques and high velocity thrust (HVLA) techniques the restore the mobility and function of a joint (this is the technique that produces the "click" sound).

Osteopaths make their choice of treatment depending upon the patient and the condition, and may give advice on posture, exercises, lifting techniques, nutrition, etc. All Osteopaths are required to complete a minimum of five years full-time study, including a Masters degree in Health Science and Osteopathy to be eligible for registration in Victoria.
